Download and print out this template, and cut it along the solid lines to create templates for your stitching.

This template is designed to help you create a seam with eight stitches to the inch and a 3/8-inch seam allowance. It is useful for the long seams on the Larkin & Smith English Gown Pattern.

Pin your fabric together, and clip the template along the cut edge of the fabric to guide your seam and show you how long your stitches should be.
(I recommend using these sewing clips to attach the template to your fabric.)
